As you might have guessed from my last post, I am a fan of the anime series “Is it Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” ( ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか ), or DanMachi as it is shortened most frequently. I have been binging it for the past several weeks as well as reading the manga and the light novel. I am NOT obsessed. I discovered, during my investigations, that there is a spin-off series that tells the same story from a slightly different perspective. The idea of this intrigued me and so I started on “Sword Oratoria” (ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか外伝 ソード・オラトリア), and sure enough. the same story from two perspectives is a fascinating idea. The characters are the same but in the original the main focus lies on Hestia and Bel, while in the spin-off features the store from Aiz and Loki’s perspective. Watching the two together allows one to see a great deal more of the detail in the story.
The characters in this version of the story are the members of the Loki Famalia. In addition to Aiz and Loki, we see the Amazon twins Tiona and Tione, Bete the werewolf, Finn the Braver, the leader of the group, and Lefyia and Rivera, the elf magic users.
The animation is top-notch, the music is acceptable if not epic, the colors are bright, and the fan service is prevalent but not offensive. (Caveat, Loki’s pursuit of the girls can be a tad annoying at times.) The video can be legitimately view at the following links and I highly encourage anyone from mid-teen and up to watch it.
